We do not really make a big to-do about birthdays and I am not really a coupon person. I always watch in awe of the extreme coupon people as they get $800 in groceries for free or next to nothing. Frankly, it looks intriguing to get free stuff but in reality, it is not something I would normally take the time to do. But I decided to try birthday coupons this year.
I am trying to have more fun now that I have more time. There are only so many things you can do locally when you have lived in the same small town for the past 40 years. So I thought it would be fun to do the story and actually do the things I was recommending just like I do for my travel posts! You know, actually live it out and show you the pictures!
This is for people who like coupons and want to spend their birthday getting recognized for their loyalty to their favorite brands.

The research begins.
My husband’s birthday is in January so I decided to hit the streets and see who offers the BEST birthday coupons and clubs in our area! Actually, I hit the internet and started looking up the information. Then I hit the streets! Be careful, much of the information on the web is outdated. I checked various websites and registered my life away! The emails came trickling in with his birthday coupons.
You will want to make sure you do this about a week before your birthday. Often, certain brands will not have enough time to get you a birthday coupon in time for your birthday if you try to register too close
So the hunt begins. I find some articles that have a list from all over the country. I only wanted to write about my personal experiences so you are getting a completely tried and true review. I will keep the list to what we had access to locally and actually tried. Hopefully, you have one of these places in your area as well.
There were several small local restaurants that offered birthday coupons for meals, so you should check on those as well. Some of mine may be regional but it will still give you a good idea of what is out there. Most of the places had a phone app or for some of them you could print out a birthday coupon.
I will do the list in the order that we visited them because we started with breakfast! You can decide which ones you would rank as the best!
Dunkin’ Donuts was our first stop!
We received a free drink for his birthday coupon and when we registered we also received a coupon for another free drink just for signing up! Okay, I know it is not a meal, but now we had two Iced Teas and our drinks for the road! It was going to be a long day! We needed some caffeine! You register here for your birthday coupons.
IHOP was next on the list!
Next on our list was IHOP! We collected our birthday coupon and headed on in! I spoke to the manager and let him know we were doing an article and we needed a server that would be okay with taking a photo!

Jack was unable to finish his stack. It was huge and delicious! He ordered the New York Cheesecake stack with strawberries! He knew what he had in store for him later!
Next we headed to the outlet mall in our area so Jack could get a break, walk of that stack and buy a new pair of shoes for his birthday! After doing that we headed to our next destination.
Firehouse Subs!
To be completely transparent, we were at IHOP at 10 AM and Firehouse by noon. There was no way Jack could eat anything at this point but we must continue on. I had convinced him to take the day off from work when he is booked solid! I only had him for the day. We had to go everywhere we could in one day!
We realized we had never been to Firehouse before. When we entered we were greeted by the staff behind the line immediately. Love it! I also noticed that they greeted the other employees coming in for their shift. “Welcome to work!” As a former bank manager, I know the importance of

So we decide to go home and stash his sub in the fridge and drop off our packages from the mall. He ended up eating his sub for dinner the next night.
Jersey Mike’s Subs!
Since we only had today, we had to head to our next stop. Jersey Mike’s offers a free medium sub and drink for your birthday. Jack really loves cheesesteaks and there is no better one than a cheesesteak from Jersey Mike’s! No one wants to reheat a perfectly delicious cheesesteak! So he ate it there. Okay, at this point he is so full he feels a little overly stuffed. I feel immediately guilty. This is a person who does not eat lunch. Much less a huge stack of pancakes in the morning and then a sub, three hours later! I offer to take him home so he can rest or take him to TJ Maxx across the street to walk it off. He opts for the shopping then home to take a nap. Of course, he ends up working on the taxes. It is January after all!

Ruby Tuesday!

Next the server informed us she wanted to give him a complimentary sundae as well. He opted for the caramel sundae.
You guessed it. It’s not over yet!
We were not able to fit any more restaurants into our day for obvious reasons. Many of the places we registered offered a birthday coupon for your birthday week, not just the day. That’s right! The party did not stop that day!
Moe’s Southwestern Grill
