What is the Prostate Gland?
The prostate is a gland located between the bladder and the penis and is the size of a walnut normally. The prostate gland is a male reproductive organ whose main function is to secrete prostate fluid, which is a product of semen.
In almost all men, the prostate enlarges as they age. In younger men, the prostate is very small. This allows urine to flow freely. As the prostate enlarges it can cause some nasty symptoms that block the flow of urine that can be a huge inconvenience for most men. It can grow from the size of a walnut to the size of a baseball!
What is an Enlarged Prostate Gland
An Enlarged Prostate Gland affects more than half of men over the age of 50 and more than 80% of men over the age of 80. Not life-threatening but often causes unpleasant and sometimes aggravating symptoms. If left untreated the condition can result in bladder stones, poor kidney function, and infection.
Many men often wait for months or even years before seeking medical help when they have changes in urinary function. In many cases, their wife or significant other will notice the symptoms and urge their guy to seek out help with a medical professional. That was how I learned about the prostate gland, its function and what can help.

A few years ago, my husband and I decided that food would be our first defense when it came to medical matters. Many issues can be resolved with a healthy diet and proper exercise. With that being said, we often can not get our needs met with the current state of our food so we have to utilize supplements to gain the nutrients we need.
With my own husband’s prostate and urinary issues, we looked to food for the answer first. We found out that apricot seeds could be the solution we were looking for. And yes they worked, somewhat, but, the taste was very bitter.
It did not matter if they worked or not if he could not stand eating them. Jack would eat the seeds and stop when his symptoms subsided, then he would start to see his urinary symptoms reappear and start eating the seeds again.
We needed a solution that he could live with.
Records show that mature saw palmetto berries, which are rich in fat, were originally used as a food source and medicinal solution by Native Americans dating back centuries. The first published reference of saw palmetto is based on stories of Quakers. Shipwrecked in 1696 they were provided saw palmetto berries as food by the natives.
The Saw Palmetto on the market today in the US is a ground powder that can be much less effective in treating an enlarged prostate gland. The quality and strength in the powder have mixed reviews and results for men who have tried Saw Palmetto. That is because the powder form is not going to be as strong as an extracted oil that has a much higher potency.
The solution came. The team at Flomentum® reached out to me to see if we had any interest in trying their supplement for prostate health. Ummmm, YES! We needed help!
Flomentum has 8x the potency of ground Saw Palmetto powders.
